First Wedding Anniversary Gift

Image
Today is my first Wedding Anniversary, the traditional gift for giving on the first anniversary is paper. Although as a hoarder I have tons of paper floating around my craft room I wanted to make something special for my Husband. I saw a fantastic gift whilst searching through pinterest and decided to have a go at re-creating it, so I cannot take full credit for this masterpiece, I found this on a site called  Full of great ideas . I love this picture of us signing the register, It was taken in colour and after a little manipulation I managed to change it to Black and White with just Johns tie and Buttonhole in colour. I designed the layout on Microsoft Publisher and found the numbers on a fantastic site by Leo Reynolds and find the letters and numbers you like. This took me the longest, I could not decide between all the fantastic images and changed my mind several times. Once I found numbers that I thought went together I altered the images to black and white to fit

Halloween Flip Card

Hi, I have loved Halloween ever since being a child.  I don't think in the UK we celebrate Halloween as much as we should, although it seems to be getting bigger these days, but I think that is just because it is becoming more commercialised. I decided to make a Halloween card for my niece as she has the same love of Halloween as myself (she is 9).  This is my first attempt of making a flip card.  The materials I used :  Vintage halloween pictures Black and Orange Card Black and Orange Feathers On the flip side of the card I decided to make some gift tags to match the card, for a little treat for my niece. My lovely hubby has just made me a super huge coffee, and brought through some "Posh" chocolate bikkies and I am going to pop over to see what goodies my friends have made at Handmade Monday, there are some fantastic crafters who take part in these challenges, so why not pop over and see if you are inspi

Wooden Gingerbread Man

Well, I am a Craft Magpie, I see crafty things and I buy them, I consider what to do with them later, well that is not strictly true. I don't do anything with them, I just love looking at them.  Knowing that "I have one of those". Well finally I have decided to start using my goodies, what is the point of having beautiful papers and beads if they are just stuck in a box where no-one except myself (when I remember) can look at them? With Christmas coming what better excuse is there to start making beautiful items, in March this year, I bought some gingerbread man shaped birch plywood figures, I could not tell you why I bought them, I thought they looked cute and just did. Here is my first contribution to  We Did It Wednesday  and  The Thrifty Home This is Sam, the Gingerbread Man (named by my son Luke, he has a thing for Fireman Sam at the moment) Firstly, I painted the gingerbread man with mud hut, marked out his stitches, added a cute little gingham patch

Recycled motor oil trolley to Plant holder

When I was moving house I needed a an electric cooker to just plug in an cook with until we had sorted out the kitchen in our new house, so I took my trusty laptop and popped in EBay , long story short I found a cooker and had a look at what other items the seller had, to see if there was anything of interest whilst we were driving there anyway. Low, and behold I spotted this lovely little item Yes it is an old oil trolley from a garage And again yes, it is very rusty but I saw it, did not know what I would do with it, but I HAD to have it. So we won the bid, went up to collect the items, and I forgot to mention to my hubby I had bought this.  Luckily our Purple Turtle as I call my hubbys car (FIAT Multipla) has loads of space in it when you remove the back seat.  My hubby eyed me up suspiciously when the guy brought this out too.  When we got back into the car I got a "and what do you intend to with that old thing?" , my response was "Not sure yet, but I had
